Delightfully Entertained

What to watch on a cold, dark night.

Shows and movies for long January nights

Entertainment should take us on a journey without having to leave the couch – especially on a wet, windy, and cold day. I’ve found some entertaining films and shows that made me laugh, smile, talk to the tv, question love, and in the end step into a fictional world that includes Paris, Madrid, and Korea to name a few.

The Internet Movie Database, or IMDb, has ratings and trailers as well as information on where to watch, www.imdb.com.

Films/Series

Jane Austen Ruined My Life (film) – A French Film that while funny is a bit different than the average American Rom-Com. The main character is a little different, though very likable.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty (series) – A Korean series that is both funny and interesting with a time travel plot that sets a modern chef back in time and cooking for her life, literally.

French Lover (film) – A French Rom-Com. A slight nod to Notting Hill, with a leading actor not hiding from the press.

The Lady’s Companion (series) – A Spanish period piece with a strong female lead that brings an insider’s lens to matchmaking and courting for the upper class of yesteryear.

Younger (series) – The publishing world meets a single mother who can’t get a job, until she pretends to be, well, younger. Fun publishing world and meet cutes ensue.

Valeria (series)- The Spanish version of four friends who are facing the ups and downs of love together in Spain. Reminded me of Sex and the City, but modern.

Thank You, Next (series)- Turkish drama and romance meets Emily in Paris, but is a keen lawyer who navigates love and loss, with some mystery along the way.

An Astrological Guide for Broken Hearts (series)- A series set in Italy, the main character makes a friend with someone who understands astrology, and this takes several twists in both her personal and professional life.
