God works in mysterious ways

He plants his footsteps in the sea and rides upon the storm.

I made a vision board and then my apartment flooded

I actually made four vision boards. They were showing the future that I wanted to attract for myself and my children and they focused primarily on home and feelings of home.

I drew on my collection of Architectural Digest for this project as well as past images from magazines that I had been saving for this purpose. I meant to execute this project at the new year in January, but it was nearly February by the time I got to it.

I added phrases and sayings to my vision boards. These included:

  • Beauty
  • Towards a dream
  • Beloved
  • Space to grow
  • Dream house
  • Pacific
  • A new attitude
  • Make your dreams a reality
  • Signs and symbols
  • Good vibes
  • Stay awhile
  • Move beyond your expectations

Images I used were of homes and gardens, bedrooms, outdoor spaces, women and children, roses, the ocean, comfy seating, pets, successful and beautiful women, spaces to gather.

Then my apartment flooded.

Next thing I knew, I was displaced with no where to go. Fortunately I had family nearby. But I was in shock. How could this happen?

Fast forward to the present day. I am in my new home and I am happy here. Of course it isn’t perfect, but with some hindsight I see the divine humor of it all.

God moves in mysterious ways

His wonders to perform

He plants his footsteps in the sea

And rides upon the storm.

Wiktionary

I am grateful to have eventually landed on my feet, and grateful for a cozy and safe place to live with my children. I see it as another step towards my vision of home.
