Wintertime Sadness

As a Californian, I realize that my experience of winter is a bit West Coast light.

6 objets de coziness

As a Californian, I realize that my experience of winter is a bit West Coast light. There are no arctic blizzards, no days with mere hours of light, no snow even.

I moved to the Bay Area after four years of cold dark Northwestern winter, because winter here could be so mild. But, it’s still winter.

“The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”

Mark Twain, possibly

Things I relish in the winter:

  1. Cashmere socks. I was given a pair once for Christmas, and it was a cozy game changer. I’m wearing a pair now 🙂
  2. Tea. I drink coffee in the morning and then move on to tea. Herbal or black, it just is so good.
  3. Hot water bottle. I was given one with a cashmere cover and I use it at night in my bed when the heat is off. It reminds me of my grandmother who was a fan of hers.
  4. Falling asleep to the rain. Rain is seasonal here, but I enjoy the sound of it as I drift off.
  5. Reading in bed. Reading in bed before sleep or in the morning is something I’ve always loved.
  6. Down jacket. Once cold and particularly wet winter I was given my first down jacket. I’ve been living in them ever since for their gift of warmth.
